Trying new products can be intimidating, especially when they relate to sensitive areas. Scars, stretch marks, and age spots definitely qualify as sensitive, if you ask me! Plus, I’ve always been a bit of a skeptic when it comes to scar products.

Understanding the qualities and benefits of the Mederma Advanced Scar Gel is the entire point of a review, isn’t it? After seeing my friend’s results and reading many of the trials, I knew it was time for more research.
So my first impression is that Mederma Advanced Scar Cream not only works on scars, but also provides additional skin protection by acting as a sunscreen too. The UV protection is a huge selling point for me. I always love products that have an SPF factor.
To me, when a company goes the extra mile to prevent further skin damage during your daily activities indicates that they’re really thinking about the way you use the products as part of your everyday life and aren’t adding lots of steps to make your routine more time consuming and harder for you!
Not only does the sun protection make this product great for the way it seamlessly fits into your daily routine, but it also has a deeper purpose. As the Mederma website shares, sun exposure can darken scars. So this skin cream not only works on healing the wounds and simplifying your daily skin care routine, but it is also actively helping to prevent the evidence of former injuries from getting worse.
But How Does It All Work?
Ever the pessimist, I wasn’t all that sure that Mederma Advanced Scar Gel lived up to its hype even after starting my research. However, I soon discovered that the product went through clinical trials. Outside research is definitely a plus to any skincare product in my eyes. I always like to know that they’ve not only tested the product (as all quality brands do), but they’re also not afraid to show us the results!
I’m happy to share that Mederma Advanced Scar Gel was both proven effective and performed better than most other scar treatment products on the market.
I was also really interested to know how it worked on new and old scars. Upon first consideration, you might think a scar is a scar no matter the age. However, think about the difference in the way they look, feel, and behave when you move your skin. With that at the front of your brain, it’s easy to see how they might react better to different products.
I’ve heard of people reviewing other scar treatment products before that were great on new scars but barely touched old ones or vice versa. To me, I’ll admit, this seems like a major annoyance. If I’m going to use a product, I want it to work for all of my scars and not have to purchase multiple gels for different injuries.

Compared to other scar cream and skin care regimens, that doesn’t seem like all that much effort to me! It seems well worth the effort knowing that it has the potential to work on new and old scars alike!
Keep in mind, for new scars they recommend users give their injuries two weeks before starting to use the cream. So that means you’ll need to give it that time and make sure that the skin has healed and begun to regrow. This means that there should be no scabs insight before you can get to work repairing your scars with Mederma Advanced Scar Cream. Which isn’t all that bad now is it!
Even with all of those benefits and the ease of use, we’re yet to fully dive into my favorite aspect of this incredible product. What I like most about the Mederma Scar Cream plus SPF 30 is the fact that it can be used on a range of scars, not just those that result from a burn or injury. In this instance, I’m talking about its ability to successfully improve the appearance of stretch marks.
I’ve seen specific stretch mark creams before, but always wondered if I’d be able to use them on my actual scars too. So this wonder cream says it can be used for acne treatment, acne pits, burns, cuts, surgery scars and marks from injuries. On top of its general use for scars and stretch marks, the ability of this gel to heal burns is a plus for me as we all now know how I am a little careless with my curling iron, straightener, and other hot beauty products!
And How Did You Find It?
Well, I’m pleasantly surprised. I know I went through all of my research and the details of what the Mederma Scar Cream plus SPF 30 can do, but I was still a little skeptical. Despite my extensive research, I still doubted that it would work well or what to expect when I tried it for myself.
The results were not what my cynical self expected, to say the least!
After four weeks using Mederma Advanced Skin Care Cream, my skin started to even out where my stretch marks are. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely something different. With my burn scar, it took a little longer strangely, but at the 8 week mark my skin was looking better and the tone was finally evening out – hurrah!
It’s now been around 14 weeks and I’m still going with the process, just to see what this stuff can really do. My stretch marks have completely evened out and it does take some searching to really see them. Until I experienced this on my own body, I didn’t believe it was possible.
Furthermore, my most recent burn has also come along well. I can barely see it now – something I thought would take years! I can honestly say I’ve never had a burn heal this quickly or easily.

The Overall Verdict?
I have to say, I’m impressed. I’m very impressed. I would definitely give this a 4 out of 5.
The only reason I’m reluctant to give it a 5 is because I’m not sure how it would work on anyone else. We all have different skin types, scar depths, and respond to products different. For that reason, I wouldn’t want that the be misleading. Everyone needs to give these things a go after all to make sure they work for themselves.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend Mederma’s Scar Cream plus SPF 30 to anyone who has scars they want to heal!
