This week we are focusing on things that have to do with under-eye issues, so we decided to write a hydrolyze review for our readers. Whether they come in the form of puffy eyes, wrinkles, fine lines, or dark circles. Our goal is to find the best eye creams available on the market.

We also want to focus ourselves on one product specifically, and it’s one that is turning some heads for the under-eye circle reduction market. It’s Hydrolyze. Let’s break this down and see how effective it truly can be.

In our review of Hydrolyze, we’ll talk about:

  • How effective the product is
  • The purpose and quality of ingredients
  • What other gals are saying after they try it
  • Comparisons in price to other treatments for under-eye problems

Before We Start…

In case you haven’t heard much related to Hydrolyze yet, here’s a quick breakdown. The product was specifically developed as a cream with more than one purpose – It treats problem areas under the eyes, decreasing dark circle appearance, and getting rid of puffiness that sometimes forms around your eyes.

What causes those dark circles, anyway?

Beneath your eyes, you have many tiny blood vessels, also called capillaries. These can be easily ruptured, but it generally happens closer to the skin surface. What you see under your eyes is really blood that bursts from these capillaries and floats below that thin skin layer beneath your eyes.

It sounds a little disgusting, doesn’t it? But it’s basically just like bruising that happens elsewhere on the body – it’s just different in appearance due to the thin skin found under the eyes. They look bad, but they don’t normally cause permanent harm.

Hydrolyze cream for the eyes strengthens the capillaries under your eyes so that they won’t be so easily ruptured. It also dissolves looser blood cells and that is the reason for the dark look of the skin.

The Ingredients & the Way They Work

Dark Circles Before & After

Let’s break down each of the main ingredients of the cream for under-eye problems, and see if we can understand how effective the product can be on those problem areas beneath your eyes. We were annoyed at not being able to learn about every ingredient in the product, but we did find out the main and active ingredients…

The first active ingredient in Hydrolyze:

Helps your body to digest dead and dying blood cells

Strengthens the tiny under-eye capillaries.

Hydrolyze uses one main ingredient for both of those results. It’s Haloxyl. It can be bought separate from the kit, but then it wouldn’t have a way to be delivered to the skin.

Hydrolyze also includes other ingredients that DO deliver the Haloxyl beneath the skin surface. This is where it’s most needed, where those smallest blood vessels lie.

Haloxyl has properties allowing for the natural production of collagen in your body. Producing new collagen means firmer, thicker skin. This means those under-eye circles won’t show up so easily.

The second active ingredient was developed to remove wrinkles and fine lines. We have discussed this one before – it’s Matrixyl 3000. It’s used in Hydroxatone, another powerful cream for wrinkles. This sorta gives you a good idea about how this ingredient helps.

Matrixyl 3000 increases collagen production by tricking your body into thinking that it contains more dead cells of collagen than it actually does. This will stimulate your body to produce more helpful collagen, which aids in producing new and healthy skin cells. This helps counteract the under-eye problems.

We noticed an oddity in Hydrolyze’s ingredients – they link it to its sister product, named Hydroxatone. There is only one main difference in the formulas, and that’s the fact that Hydrolyze uses Haloxyl and Hydroxatone does not. Without Haloxyl, Hydrolyze would simply be a weaker cream to fight wrinkles.

Are there Better Solutions for Under Eye problems?

The main purpose of this cream, as we said, is removing fine lines and wrinkles, and removing dark under-eye circles and puffiness under your eyes.

Haloxyl is used to work on under-eye problems, and it’s a powerful ingredient for strengthening capillaries and dissolving blood cells that have died.

Under eye problems

Most other treatments for under-eye issues use these ingredients in their own formulas, for the same purpose. So the difference is how much it is (or isn’t) diluted. We believe that this product uses a higher percentage of Haloxyl since you can see results within minutes.

When we discuss Hydrolyze’s ability to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, we think that takes a bit longer.

Judging by what experts say, most of this formula is designed to reduce puffiness and dark circles, rather than just getting rid of wrinkles.

So, you may well be better off using Hydroxatone instead, or maybe by using the two products together, to get better results.

Additional Ways to Improve the Appearance of Your Eyes

As you may already be able to tell from the reviews circling the web, this product claims to rejuvenate and bring more life to your eyes. However, there are other ways to improve the look of your eyes. You can do these in conjunction with the Hydrolyze cream or as an alternative.

If you’re not doing so already, consider drinking more water and getting at least 7 hours of sleep at night. You’d be surprised at how much of a difference these small changes make.

Here are some other methods you should try to get rid of those under eyes:

1 – Tea Bags Are Great For Dark Circles

A cup of green tea is well known for its health benefits; however, did you know that tea isn’t just for sipping? You can actually use it to help with dark circles and bags under your eyes. The caffeine in tea gives you antioxidants and increases blood flow to the skin.

To try simply steep 2 tea bags for 3-5 minutes and let them chill in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes. You’ll then want to squeeze out any extra liquid and place them on your under-eye area. Leave them on for 15-30 minutes before removing them.

2 – Apply Some Cold

Do you know those movies where men and women wear cucumbers over their eyes at a day spa? There is actually a reason for this that goes beyond looking fancy!

Dark circles under the eyes can be eliminated by using a cold compress for a few minutes. This offers some temporary relief and can be done using materials already in your home such as:

  • Cool cucumber slices
  • Chilled teaspoon
  • Bag of frozen veggies
  • Wet washcloth

3 – Wear Sunscreen Every Day

Frozen fresh veggies

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again. The sun can be our skin’s worst enemy leading to a number of dermatological problems like premature aging, discoloration, and even skin cancer. Wearing sunblock will not only protect your skin but it helps with dark circles and under-eye bags. It’s recommended that everyone wears sunscreen before sun exposure. There are face moisturizers and many cosmetic products that contain SPF 30 or higher making it a breeze to protect your skin against UVA and UVB rays.

How is the Customer Feedback?

So far, the product has many reviews and they are mixed. People do tend to evaluate things more aggressively online than they do in person, though. So we see more negative reviews online because people don’t mind telling others about bad experiences. No one is as likely to mention good results online.

Keeping that in mind, we’ll try to check in with reviewers, so we know that they were being truthful. Below you’ll see a review we saw on Truthinagaing. We only mention it because it’s obvious that the person really tested it. She only used it on one eye, then she’d be able to chart the changes if any.

Most people who claim no results in reviews of skincare products don’t do a comparison to see whether a change took place. Just trying to remember the results isn’t a good idea. That’s why this review is more helpful:

“This is an interesting take….I’ve been using Hydroxatone for about 8 years. First trough their subscription service, then I started buying it on other commercial sources. I had NO problem stopping the home delivery, and within a month -5 weeks, The 11’s between my eyes disappeared. That was the primary reason I thought I’d give it a try… I’ve used the microdermabrasion system also. It really made a difference. My skin is dry to slightly oily around my nose. I’ve had NO issues with this product. My skin feels amazing and the fine lines and wrinkles have practically disappeared.. I say – try it.

The second review is also from Amazon. This reviewer saw some results at first, but then thought it was difficult to see continued results. We always stress that you need to use the product and care for your skin on a daily basis, to help in the reduction of aging signs.

Products work great for short-term help, but you have to care for your skin on a long-term basis. You need to eat properly, use moisturizers on a regular basis, and get good sleep.

“I personally love the whole skin care line of products. It was given to me as a gift from my aunt and I think it’s perfect. I just can’t afford any more because I’m disabled. I would personally recommend all Hydroxatone products to everyone.”

Tammy, St Stephen, SC, consumeraffairs.com

The review below comes from a user who said they did not see any results. We only cautiously post negative type reviews, but we wanted to give you a wider perspective.

It’s a risk-free initial trial of Hydrolyze. If you don’t have any luck with the formula within 30 days, you can contact them at 1-800-605-1096 for a refund. Don’t be afraid to get MAD at them if that’s what it takes to get your money back!

This anti wrinkle cream is every bit worth getting. My face looked tired and dull, but after using bellaplex it has changed. It’s amazing. My face looks bright and alive again. Makes me look 5 to 10 years younger. If you want to look and feel young, bellaplex is they to go. I love it. The best anti wrinkle cream I have ever used.

Max, Hallam, consumeraffairs.com

Based on the public consensus, Hydrolyze is a mild treatment for under-eye circles that has reviews telling of mixed results, good and bad.

Comparing it to the product we chose as our top treatment for circles under eyes, for which the approval rate is above 95%, Hydrolyze only has 80% positive results.

Where To Buy

You can get your hands on this product in quite a few ways. To start, the Hydroxatone website has it in stock for the price of $69.95. We are talking about a half-ounce jar. They do offer a free trial only if you enroll in their auto-ship program (we’ll talk a little more about this later).

Then, of course, you can browse other online retailers like Amazon or eBay. You’ll be able to read customer reviews and usually land a better deal than buying directly from the manufacturer.

Wherever you decide to buy, make sure you’re getting an authentic product and purchasing from a reliable source.

A Risk-Free Trial and Price Comparisons

Before we run price comparisons, we wanted to let you know one thing about Hydrolyze that we think is great. The 30-day risk-free guarantee is honored without problems.

That’s the main “plus” for this cream over competitors since you can try the product before you actually, technically buy it.

Our issue is the high price if you do continue using it, though, and that’s the main reason we did not rate this product as #1 on our top list of the best of eye creams. Our main complaint with Hydrolyze IS the $69.95 price tag. But you MAY be able to save money…

A Tip that Will Help You Save Some Money

We’ve seen rumors online about people getting discounts AFTER the original 30 days of use. If you are pleased with your results after the first 30 days, so you want to continue using Hydrolyze, call them up and ask about ongoing discounts.

The price for this product is a bit high, considering that it’s a product that doesn’t deliver results near those of our chosen best eye cream for this year, which has a lower price.

But you can try Hydrolyze, anyway, without the risk of spending the money if it doesn’t work.

Our verdict for Hydrolyze is that it provides fairly rapid results, in the removal of dark under-eye circles. But the results plateau after a time, so it has good short-term results but has less effect over the long term.
