Chemical peels, like in-office procedures, work to remove the upper level of your skin and invigorate your lower levels for a youthful appearance.
For instant, albeit temporary results, micro-needling is a good option. This procedure is exactly what it sounds like. All of the above methods are temporary fixes for your skin woes. Each of these quick fixes will require regular visits to maintain a wrinkle-free result.
If prevention hasn’t worked to your satisfaction or you don’t want to keep up with regular office visits, a facelift is the most invasive option for coping with wrinkles around the mouth. As such, it also has the longest recovery time and carries the risk of scars.
There are non-surgical facelift options available, but these require regular maintenance to achieve a lasting effect, as well.
You could also consider fat transfer. Like a facelift, you will need to visit a plastic surgeon to find out if this option is right for you. When choosing skin care products, it’s a safe bet to go with your dermatologist’s recommendation. They will have a variety of clinically-tested products with proven results. Some dermatologists may even sell their own line of branded skincare products.

You’re probably not going to want to hear this bit (I know, because I didn’t either), but there are things we all shouldn’t have done, or still be doing, if we want to be forehead wrinkle free. After all, we do know that prevention is better than cure when it comes to, well, everything – so it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise.
Staying out the sun, wearing an SPF, not smoking and sleeping well all top the list and I’m not all that surprised. I know that sun damage counts for an unbelievably huge percentage of wrinkle problems, but I don’t always remember to wear an SPF (oops). I don’t smoke, so that’s ticked off my list and I do try to sleep a lot, but my body doesn’t always let me (neither does having a job)!
But if like it is for me, it’s a bit too late for you, and you want to know a bit more on what can help you now, I have those bits covered off also…
Let’s ease you in with these, shall we! You may only need something topical to do the trick, especially if your forehead wrinkles are only faint or aren’t that deep yet and of course any source of Omega 3 can help – the fatty oils help to plump out the skin, including those pesky wrinkles.
Now we know that specific facial movement can cause our dreaded forehead wrinkles to form, but there is also a little trick that can help – petroleum jelly. It seems a bit silly, but the petroleum jelly works with the skin. After washing, spread a little along the forehead and it will get to work with plumping the skin and reducing the deepness of the lines. Genius, right!?
For something a little more commercial, there’s always the top 10 anti wrinkle creams. It seems like a cliché, but there are some that work wonders – particular those with Retinol (a form of Vitamin A that works amazingly with fine lines and wrinkles) in. I’ve tried La Roche Posay’s Redermic Anti-Ageing Dermatological Treatment, Roc’s Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Filler and even Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Plump Perfect Ultra Lift and Firm Moisture Cream with SPF 30 (an easy way of getting that in) so far and I have nothing but praise for each of them. They really can do the work!
Even illuminating face primers can help – the trick being the illuminating part. They work to reflect light away from the skin and sort of distract attention away from your forehead wrinkles (to pretend they’re not there) – which sounds good to me, and it works!
For something a little more permanent, there are always the surgical options. Botox being the first. Some people are partial, and others will say never, but it’s there. Botox needs to be applied every 4-6 months to be effective and primarily works by freezing the muscles to make it impossible for them to wrinkle. I like the sound of this.
Likewise, there are peels. Sometimes called a chemical peel or an acid peel, it means that the top layer(s) of skin is removed to allow the fresh skin to replace it – thus super soft and (hopefully) wrinkle free! It can seem a little bit daunting or even over the top, but professionals have been doing them for years, and I’ve seen the results – they’re great. They also work wonders for other lines and even blemishes – something other options can’t work on at the same time.
And, if all of this seems a little bit much for you at the moment, there’s always bangs! Now you may laugh, but if you have bangs, you don’t have to look at the forehead wrinkles anymore – it’s a win-win situation.
For me, I think I’m going to stick to my limited options and give my skin the hydration it needs.
